Sydney NSCC dyno day this Sunday
Just thought I'd put up a little reminder that the NSCC is having their annual dyno day this Sunday at Croydon Racing in Silverwater.
It's mostly 200SXs but I'll be there from 8am to 10am if anyone wants to come along to say hello or have a run ($50 for 3 pulls, might have to wait for club members to finish but probably not).
The only change to my car since my last run is about another 5,000km and the US air duct so I'd expect little in the way of change but I hope to get to the bottom of what changes they've made to the dyno that we've seen such different results lately.

That'd be good but don't make a special trip just on my account. There is a small chance that I won't recover from the wedding reception the night before to make it there. I'm going to try though as I've been looking forward to this for a while and really want to figure out what's going on with the results.

Just got back and only have a few minutes before I go out again so I'll be quick.
Pulled 164.7rwkw, 7.2kw more than my last run ~6 months ago with the only changes being the US air duct and ~4,000km more on the clock. Just as interesting is the AFR is a fair bit richer than my last pull. Here are the two charts:

Might actually be missing a bit up top and curve isn't as smooth as last time as the tyres were slipping a bit on the wet metal rollers. The ECU had a bit of a tantrum because of that and went into one of it's funny moods where it lights up the SLIP and ABS lights permanently until you turn it off for a while.

I had a talk to them about shootout mode and your car ottonove. We didn't go into great detail (too early in the moening to think much) but the shootout mode is basically meant to be a calibration method, or standard if you prefer, to allow dynos to be compared to one another, something you can't really do otherwise. This is fairly different to what my understanding was but it makes sense and is a good move IMO.
That said looking at the dyno thread and those that are listed in shootout mode I still don't think you can really compare between dynos.
I specifically asked them about your result and while they certainly remembered it they couldn't explain it. Either a mistake was made somwhere (they suggested it may have been run in the wrong gear) or you got lucky and have an exceptionally strong engine.
164 is more like what I would've expected with the mods. I always thought the previous results were a little low but it doesn't matter much.

Quick chop but I overlayed my last AFR chart with the one from today:
The red line was stock, the blue after the Amuse and the green from today. As you can see it went a little leaner after the exhaust but today it was richer throughout most of the range. Just thought it was interesting.

The run before and after the exhuast are the red and blue lines so you can see they were very close. Oh and it's added fuel, not removed it.
I can't really explain it but there are of course variables, maybe the sniffer wasn't mounted exactly the same way (although from what I saw it was), maybe the humidity was causing the change, maybe this batch of fuel wasn't very good etc.

I seemed to have just missed you Aps...
Again the day was mostly s15s modded to 200rwkw. Some cars were very nice. All in all the poor wheather kept people away.
The highlight was a Lexus Es300 with a supra engine with Twin turbo. Can't remember what it got but one fine car.
