Topgear 350Z video
Hi all, I don't know if you've seen it, but I've just watched the Topgear road test of 350Z done by Jeremy Clarkson.
He started off well by praising the 240Z and then started to systematically bag all the later Z cars. He called the 300ZX a Marlon Brando!!
When he got to the 350Z, he bagged it from the beginning to the end.
He was driving a DB Track around Sheffield England. He said he thought it looked like a bit of a mess. He also went to mention that the car was a "raw hamburger curry, served in a disinterested way on a bed of garlicky jus".
He said that if "you're the sort of person who likes to cruise the streets annoying everyone with your drum and bass, then this is definitely the car for you".
He said that it didn't take long to work out that this car has a few weak links and that the biggest weak link is the engine. He didn't like the engine noise and he thought the car didn't feel fast.
He thought it would be like a Mazda MX5 but with more power, "but it isn't, not even slightly". He didn't even want to drive the car hard through the windy roads because of two things. One was the engine noise and the two was the fact that the drummer from Def Leppard crashed his Corvette and he now drives with a ****. I think Mr Clarkson is a bit of **** for not at least giving the Z a fair go. But then again this guy drives Lamborghinis and Ferraris.
He said the car had the build quality of a shed!!
At the end, he gave the Z a C minus or a 3 out of 10. He did however go on to say that the car he tested was not the final British model and that he was assured by Nissan that the final release would be much better.
The Z really copped a beating. Oh well, I love driving mine and that's all that matters.

Jeremy Clarkson is a tool. If it doesn't cost $250k+ he bags it. Have you ever read one of his print articles? You have a hard time finding a review amongst all the dribble he spouts. He must have something on someone, it's the only way i can think of that he holds onto that job.
I do agree with him about the MX-5 though, they're not at all similar but then are they supposed to be?

He's a ******, He drives cars around a track...thrashes them a bit and then goes to compare them to the Jag type E and Ferrari.
If you want to see how the Z performs, Get the Best Motoring test of the Zed vs Boxter S, bmw z3, s2000 and a GTR thrown in to show how to get pwned!
I have it here as avi and will host it for a little while if you guys want it...it's 48 meg to download though.
Let me say these guys can drive like no tomorrow...no farting around they haul these babies around the track at max speed.
I won't spoil it for those who want to see it.
Amyway anyone who wants the file PM me and i'll find a host big enough for it. Or i might just run a temp ftp.

I would rather see what Tiff Needle has to say about it. He was on Top Gear before he left to goto 5th Gear and JC took over. I have some high quality clips of him running a Mclaren F1 and the Enzo Ferrari around a track. Tiff is an ace driver and he gets the most out of anything he drives.
JC would be better suited for commenting on the Eurovision Song Contest.
Cheers

I offered to send anyone who wanted a copy on disc of the Best Motoring "Z special". Only two people said they wanted it and they duly received it.
If anyone else would like a copy please let me know your details and I will send you one. Cant promise how long it will take but I am more than happy to do so.
As always

I can probably DivX it over the weekend Harry, from the VCD you sent me. That might be easier to host than a 37Mb AVI. Probably get it down to 5-10Mb.

Tiff Needle did do a review of the 350Z not too long ago. I have it somewhere on disk but can't seem to find it now. I do remember that he praised the Z for its perfect driving position its handling and the fact that it outperforms the likes of some porsches etc... The things he wasn't too impressed about were the chinsy compartments all over the cabin and the navigation door. His final assessment of the car was that it was probably the best performance for the dollar now and that the performance of the car was good enough to out weigh his negative views of the interior.

I've put up a temporary ftp with a few small vids of nice drags and that small section of best motoring where they race the 350z.
If you want the details PM me. You can also upload stuff as long as it's not warez ie. ISO of best motoring and the likes.
I have a nice vid of a street registered supra doing a 8.9 sec 1/4 mile.

added the 350z commentary from topgear for those who wanted to see it.
pls, PM for new ip...it's off the adsl so it'll change every few days.
It's only temp so people can see what the Japs and Pomms think.
Maybe someone can provide a more permanent home for a small public ftp?
