Talking My STOCK dyno numbers

Just went and dynoed today for the first time.

My car has 3800 miles on it, and I followed break-in until 1000 miles. (1200 is BS)

First run:
240.7rwhp 239.8rwtq

Second Run:

243.3rwhp 244.9rwtq

To say the least...I'm very happy with my stock numbers...

and my nearly 245tq on the second run may be the MOST tq stock that anyone has dynoed so far no?

Interesting little tidbit....they had a Z in last month and it was a 6-speed LeMans Sunset that only dynoed at 226rwhp on the same dyno. It had 12,000 miles on it.

APG Performance is where we dynoed.....The car looks clean because of the poor lighting in the shop. His car was pretty dirty!

Between the first and second run, I removed my K&N filter....nice little power jump..

My Z didn't come with a hood blanket...I don't think any do.

Those are my winter rims....they are only 17s and are some cheap knock off RGEs...that's why I don't have any pics of them

Could the effects of improper engine break in be that severe? Damn thats a 17hp difference...hmmm

Yea...tell me about it...at first I though differences in dyno numbers for different cars was due mostly to different dynos...but this was the SAME dyno...and both were SAE corrected.....

There's also the issue of build variation. I know the import crowd loves to pimp a reputation of higher quality, by a 17hp difference sounds like Nissan needs to either tighten up its tolerances or get its manufacturing operations in control.

Or he could've dynoed in the wrong gear, which it seems like a lot of people are doing.

that is a very distinct possibility....the guys at the shop were trying to tell me to dyno in 3rd until I told them that 5th is a 1:1 gear....

Interesting seeing your TQ number a tad higher than your HP. I've got you barely beat on stock HP 244.2 but not on TQ 238.2.

On our dyno day, we saw a broad range of HP and TQ numbers on a variety of 350Z models. The only consistency we saw was the more miles you had the better numbers you had on the dyno.

You dyno'd that in 5th gear and got those numbers? Mine got dyno'd in 4th (shop messed up) and produced similar numbers. It's going back to the dyno real soon to get the actual numbers cleared up.

EDIT: For anyone else that has questions....I'm leaving to go out of town tomorrow @ 5am until next friday...so I won't have a response until then.
