Well the spacer didn't go down well... dropped 10rwkw and pinging up high.
It seems to me that the extra space in the plenum is just creating turbulence instead of a proper flow.
My concern is that the Crawford plenum might make my car ping too if i'm already pinging now.
Also interesting was that the AFR was about the same... I don't think the exhaust readout is as accurate as the ones they attach to the exhaust manifold.
Well back to the drawing board...

Zuffy, sorry I couldn't make it but sleep seemed like a better option
Shame about the results, interesting about the AFR. Tail pipe sniffers never are as accurate but I thought it would've shown up something. I can't help but wondering though that if with tuning the pinginng couldn't be fixed and even achieve a gain. Something to file for now though.

Matt, no troubles! I am a "little" older than you and am a parent so I "know" what to say (write). Ha!!!
Anyway, its a bit of a ***** the spacer didnt quite work out how we all would of liked. As you say Matt, perhaps it could tuned out when the piggyback ECU is available?
As always

Dynos
H - Who did the dyno?
What did it cost?
Why do we (Aus) get such large gains with exhaust while US
struggles to get a few hp with their Stillens and so-on?
So what was the actual gain?

Snowman, dyno was done at your old mates place at Mayfield and the cost was $62.
I didnt get one done before the exhaust, but, if I remember Zuffy had one done and his base line was 160Kw, mine was 174.4, so its just over 14kw.

My baseline was 149.9rwkw!
If you read the whole thread there is a pic of the dyno, it did 160kw in 4th and then 150kw in 5th after i told the guy which gear to use.

No....
You have to run 1:1 gear ratio to get an accurate reading.
I don't know the ins and outs on dynos but i've been told that by the operators time and time again. Maybe Nathan or Mat might know how they come up with the numbers.

It's the gearing. Power is just an equation based on torque and as gears effectively multiply the torque anything other than 1:1 also therefore multiplies power. That's a pretty basic explanation.

So how do we compare different car's output when they are all different gearing - ie a Commodore is heaps taller gearing than the Z -
so is he underrated on the dyno as a result?

Short answer is you don't. A dyno is a tuning tool, it's really only good for comparing mods on the same car. To further complicate things dynos have to be calibrated and like anything that calibration will likely differ between dynos.
That said the best you can do is select whatever gear is nearest to 1:1 and go for it. It doesn't have to be that accurate as when you're comparing one car to another it's for bragging rights only.

So did we finish up with the 20% RWG as promised by Hy-Tech?
Is the "buy" still on?
$1500 is ok cat back, but $1800 is a bit over the top considering
that my STi was $1800 fitted incl a high flow cat.

There's a thread with my dyno charts here somewhere but basically it gained 10rwkw peak and dropped about 14kg off the car. About half the gain of the Hi-tech but then it only replaced half as much of the exhuast so I guess that's fair
Could be a bit louder but I'm very happy with it (although the tips are still a little large for my taste but they're growing on me).
FWIW Hi-Tech still haven't returned my calls or emails. If they had I may have gone with them, especially if they actually bothered to produce the Ti version.
Comes down to personal preference I guess. The Amuse is better suited to some of my longer term plans but the Hi-tech has the goods (although power gain is more like 13% average rather than 20%) and wouldn't disappoint from what we've seen so far.

The Hi-tech Ti will come out just not this year. I asked while they were doing the install and they need to get it in from China as it is the best price you can get anywhere.
I'm also pressing them to release the extractors they make for Nathan. They are shorties without cats but can be adapted from what i've seen.
I might take a pic next time i'm down there getting a service.

Zuffy, yeah Mark has them. They aren't equal length and from memory they were $600 - $700.
I dont think he put any HP numbers on them alone as he has the whole system, and besides he has a red Z as well!
