Hey guys, got this interesting email from a buddy of mine that works for the City and County...take it easy on the throttle...I already saw 6 tonight.

***On 4/ 1/08, the city and county of Honolulu will launch a 30-day speeding ticket frenzy. The city estimates that 9 million dollars will be generated in speeding tickets. 1 million will go to pay police overtime. There will be 50 police on duty at all times patrolling the 9 main thoroughfares.

They are the following:

H-3 both directions
H-2 both directions
H-1 both directions
Pali Hwy
Likelike Hwy
Nimitz Hwy
Kalanianaole Hwy
Kam Hwy
Farrington Hwy

Now 5 mph above the limit can justify a ticket and every officer is supposed to pull a car over and write a ticket every 10 minutes. They have issued 30 brand new unmarked cruisers and they are bringing all their part timers on full time.***

ive seen a ton on h1 late at night this month. this sounds pretty accurate to me.

You don't even reside on the island. Some people will appreciate this useful information that ACUTALLY live here.

Although it may be on snopes.com, the cops have upped the game recently...at least I've seen a lot of activity..good find though

 

look it up, I have had the SAME EXACT email with my state in it. that is how I know. The dollar amounts are even the same. take your head out of your *** and realize you got took and man up and close the thread. this email has been out since 2005 in one form or the other.

it's always good to look out for cops (you know, that are always patrolling, and can always write tickets for speeding) but to believe a chain email is ludicrous.

and to repost it on a car forum is worse.

 

oh and Snopes even has the Hawaii Honolulu modification on thier site.

The email is fake, but the increased police presence on the roads recently most certainly is NOT. However it started back in mid March, not at the beginning of April. After our last G Cruise one of my friends got tagged for going 7 over and about four of my friends called me to let those of us who were continuing to the next spot know to be on the lookout for cops as they were pulling people over left and right. The problem stems from n00b crews posting their routes all over boards like forumshawaii where the cops troll 24/7. The Racesauce Bike Cruise was shutdown and another cruise my brother went to in Waipio a few weeks ago was also raided.

Regarding the email, it looked retarded the minute I saw it. Anyone with half a brain knows that those are the roads HPD patrols anyway since those are the only places one can really get up to speed here in Hawaii. Plus, locations like "H1", "H2" and "H3" are vague. If the list were real it would have listed the "H3 Kam Hwy cutoff" as a speed trap instead of just listing all of H3. Still, despite the list being fake, it doesn't change the fact that cops for whatever reason have been out in full force lately. Sucks for us guys who don't bother anyone and just want to get together and roll out alongside one another.

Actually, this is tr00f. Cops are ****ing EVERYWHERE as of late. Now, it's prolly not word-for-word exact, but they've been out in force and they've done this before. It's how HPD does ****.

It seems that I may have stirred up some problems here. Let me first start by apologizing for not researching the email before I posted it. As already stated here by local members, HPD patrol units have significantly increased over the last few weeks. I thought it was only appropriate to post something when I read this email to notify my fellow z drivers.

Regardless if the email is fake or not, it does not justify any "Fail, dumba$$" pictures for every reply you make to our local thread; first off, you don't even drive here. Unlike you mainlanders, us Hawaii guys look out for one another...its called Aloha...

 

there are definitely way more cops on the streets this month. I saw a cop radar me going 10 over and i thought for sure he was gonna chase me but surprisingly he let me go... guess he likes Z's .

 

I just went thru that forumshawaii and a former cop who confirmed with fellow active cops said that its:

that is usually what follows after a class graduates from the academy...

when that happens tickets go WAY UP since the recruits have a list of "things to experience" so to speak...

The more experience you get the better your chances of NOT working in the Central receiving desk area (jail cells)....

on the list has stuff like different cases like burglary, assault, murder etc etc (the more different cases you do the better your chance of going to patrol instead of CRD)....
they also need to have traffic tickets issued as part of their "Field training" (the more traffic stops you do the better your chances of going to Solo bike detail, traffic detail or traffic investigation detail which deals with traffic critical injuries or deaths)...

They love to do THREE things... Speeding, seat belt and DUI....

DUI's are gold for a rookie recruit.... in order to get a dui (or atleast be able to test for one) you need to be able to pull people over... that in turns makes the recruit do more traffic stops....

Another reason why it isn't true is this...

COPS or HPD DO NOT get anything from giving tickets (money wise)... it all goes to the state court (HPD is part of City and county you can go to any place and see where the fine goes it always goes to the state NEVER city and county, the state has it's own budget and city and county has their own budget they do NOT intermingle) ... HPD does not see ONE DIME from the fee you pay.... so anyone who says they are giving tickets to get money is false... the Civil rights will not allow that to happen... a department can NOT make money from punishing the public it would be a major civil rights issue (the judgment goes to the STATE NOT CITY AND COUNTY they must be separate in the court system to deter law enforcement from punishing the public for financial gain)... Grants are NOT offered according to how many traffic tickets you give out.... Grants are already pre-determined per state and by per capita.. Grants usually are allocated due to the amount of problem that the state has... if hawaii was ranked number 1 in "ice" then we may get a bigger grant... the grants are NOT determined by the amount of tickets they issue out...."
