Default VQ35HR´s oil consumption during break-in and after

Is there anybody who can tell me sth. about the VQ35HR´s oil consumption? I know well about the MY06 OC issue (this is why I sold my 06 Z...)
Although it seems there is no oc issue with the HR´s I would like to know the "normal" consumption during the break-in and after.

Thx mates

Dunno if this is "normal" but I think mine lost about 1/4" on the dipstick. Maybe a little more.

edit to add: before the first oil change, which was at the recommended interval.

How many miles are recommended in the US? I suppose it´s different from where I live... Is it the 3750 mi that I´ve seen in the MY06´s TSB of OC?

13,500 and it hasn't dropped any that I've noticed. At most a 1/4" for the full interval, but honestly no smoke, odor, or signs of oil loss.

The piston coatings, etc. are actually really good for reducing friction, which usually allows for tighter clearances in the engine = less oil burn.

I've been to the track a few times now and have almost 15k on the car and I've yet to see the oil level drop between oil changes.

At 1250, I changed to full synthetic, and now have 7600 mi on the car with no oil consumption issues. I have been sending in Oil Sample after each oil change as well. And it shows everything is running as it should.

My HR has burned ZERO oil in 10k miles (past break-in). Every time I check it, the level is EXACTLY on the upper hole on the dipstick.

I went though break-in as perscribed, and it might have burned 1/8th of an inch on the dipstick.

Now I drive it like I stole it - weekends, anyway. I only drive 1 mile to work, so the bulk of the 10K miles are weekend, drive-it-like-you-stole-it, events. No tracking, but some serious, forgotten twisted road fun. Just leave it in 2nd and power out of the corners - feathering the throttle until I am pointed straight enough to floor it and then use engine braking for the next turn and repeat.

I am so happy about having no oil consumption after owning an 06 that burned a quart in 2000 miles Friggin rev-up! I was soooo disappointed about having a brand-new car that burned oil and I had to clean the black crap out the tail-pipes every week. The HR tailpipes (insides) are just a very faint light-brown over the still-visible metal piping and I have never cleaned them out.

The HR is awesome.

No problem here.

I have been using Castrol Syntec 5w-30 with a M1 oil filter. The car is running like a champ.

I have 4900 miles or so, gotta do the 2nd oil change soon. I did it 1st time with 1800 miles. I might switch to synthetic, but may wait another 3k.

This is good news because I might be trading in my 06 for an 08. I'll wait until the end of this year. If I get a new motor and it still consuming I'll trade it.

This is what I exactly did due to my 06 Z having oil consumptions issue. I traded 06 Base for 08 Touring

I track my car almost every weekend. I redline my car almost 80% of the time I drive. I drive it like I stole it from day one I picked it up. Break in myth, I didn't take into consideration. I have 16k miles now and the car runs strong as ever. Im pretty sure when they empty out my oil theres a bit missing, due to my drive, but I cannot say im worried because if it was more then a quart missing my mechanic would tell me. I change my oil pretty often, about every 2-3months or 2000-2500 miles, since I track it weekly.
