Default Home Depot sells CustomAuto MESH for $5.

Wanted to post just in case some of you are thinking about forking out around $50 for a precut piece of mesh from CustomAutoMesh.com. Home Depot has it, and it comes in Flat Black, It's called Gutter Guard if I remember correctly and should be in the gutter aisle. It comes in a pretty big roll so you can custom cut all you want with scissors.
I bought a huge roll from Home Depot for only $5 and after spraying it with gloss black spraypaint this is how it came out. I just finished this project today.

No difference really, except the huge price gap!
anyway if any of you guys need some drive over to the big orange and grab some

I would not have posted this if this was cheap aluminum chicken wire.
It's a tough plastic, very flexible but kind of hard to break, it can definitely take rock chips from all directions without the paint chipping like chicken wire.

cheap well if it makes you feel better you can pay $50 at CustomAutoMesh for the exact same thing, lol

rice ? I dont get it, this is the same stuff that people use for their grilles and carbon fiber hoods, so where does the rice factor in ?

I went to lowe's hardware and they didnt have anything like that. I was gonna use some where the stock reflectors are, I dont know about using it for your whole grill though...

this is a picture straight from CustomAutoMesh. You can see the Chicken wire solution that is most commonly used, then the Custom Auto Mesh plastic stuff below.

^
so if you compare the bottom picture here and look at my grille, only difference is the squares are a little smaller in this picture otherwise the exact same thing.
so I mean, people generally use either chicken wire or this plastic stuff for their grilles, there isn't really anything else unless you're talking billet grill style stuff

I think it looks spot on. Good find! However, I know for a fact the Home Depots around my area do not carry anything of the sort. They only have short maybe 2 foot by 8 inch precut sections. If it was available I'd totally buy some. Looks great!

yea man, I mean I wasn't really looking for a cheap solution, I was actually gonna order right off Custom Auto, but then I saw they dont ship to Canada, so I had to figure something out. I'm pretty sure anybody would rather pay $5 than $50 for the exact same thing right..

seriously? None of you guys have heard of people using Gutter Guard?

I'm glad you like it OP but I've seen so many people use that stuff, and in person I think it looks like absolute junk. The pattern itself is fine; the problem is that there is no strength whatsoever to it and it quickly sags or bends. No thanks.

thats used for gutters, its a leaf guard. also there is a stucco mesh that depot carries that has the same design but metal. But i would prefer the look of the customcargrills.com

At least the OP doesn't have to worry about large amounts of leaves gathering in his engine bay!

Yeah that makes alot of sense cuz we all know that people are gonna stick their heads in his bumper vents and judge his car by the quality of the mesh...moron

I bought a roll for like $5 from Lowes a couple of years ago for my old
car-it was plastic like the one in the top of the thread-was in that car
for about a year and was fine, i used chickenwire type stuff the first
time in that car and painted it and it lasted a few months and had rock
chips and paint flaking in no time-i liked the plastic better because it
was more flexible than the metal stuff and fit more flush in the area i
used it in
