Default 2007 VQ HR Dyno Results

The 2007 VQ HR dyno results!

Comparative dynos of the NON-REVUP AT and the REVUP MT have been included to illustrate the relative differences of the three engines.
As you can see in the plots below the 2007 HR engine completely shadows the prior generations in both peak power, torque and in area under the curve by a very large margin.

I've seen both the prior engines with all the boltons can do similar numbers to eachother, but the HR engine greatly exceeds what any amount of boltons can do to the other engines.

Congratulations to Nissan for really stepping up to the plate and doing a great job on this latest engine. Let the modding begin!

And the HR 6MT on the same dyno.

1) Numbers are a bit inflated, since this is a dynopack.
2) Did you use the same 2007 AT for both tests? Why did the 2007 AT have a difference of 11 lb-ft of tq between the two tests?
3) Still very impressive.

The 2007 VQ HR looks like a promising motor. Thanks for the charts.

Inflated but this is an auto we are talking about think about what the Manual will lay down. It is better platform to start modding.

Yes, but the deltas are what's important.

2) Did you use the same 2007 AT for both tests? Why did the 2007 AT have a difference of 11 lb-ft of tq between the two tests?
Yes. Its the same 2007 AT plotted against a non-revup AT and a revup MT.

You may be confusing the 2004 AT with the 2007 AT. The 2007 AT only has about 3ft-lb variation at the peak.

I had the Cipher data logger connected to the OBDII port but the Cipher data logger couldn't recognize the new ECU. ...So I couldn't monitor engine coolant temps. I simply allowed ~5min cooling time between runs to get a good ball park on the coolant temps.

3) Still very impressive.
Yes. This new HR engine really kicks.

Do you have a comparison of the 2007 with a rev-up with your spacer and MREV2. I think that would even the playing field. It sure seems like a good upgrade for folks with a non revup, but not for those with the rev-up. Still, I would say that Nissan is still doing a great job in their engine department.

Great post, thanks.

That chart doesn't seem right. How's the revup putting down more tq than the non-revup? The whp I can understand. Those can't be stock revup and non-revup powers.

Armitage-
non-revup: 241.5 tq 258.1 whp
vs
hr: 254.7 tq 284.7 whp

revup: 249.5 tq 269.8 whp
vs
hr: 255.3 tq 284.8 whp

Where do you see a difference of 11 tq in the HR?

Good point. I missed that.

Thanks for the props but a REVUP even with a MREV2 and spacer, the HR still dominates. But it is interesting to note that in this new HR engine, they didn't just shoot for peak power at redline. They tuned for area under the curve! Basically the same type of direction (or method) as the MREV2.

I will get a dyno plot of the HR Vs REVUP w/MREV2 & spacer.

I don't know why that particular AT had less TQ than the revup MT. But the two are from the same dyno machine.

Wow. Nice numbers.

Pretty much what I was expecting, but I've been wanting to see the proof for a while now.

Thanks a bunch.

Great post! After putting in all that work (80% of the HR is new), these dyno charts certainly show that Nissan delivered. On a side note, EPA test cycles indicate the VQ35HR also gets better mileage in both city and highway cycles. That's a hard combination to beat!

Kudos to Motordyne for publishing this information. We have more details on the VQ35HR in the Winter '07 issue of Nissan Sport Magazine with the '07 G35 review.

Even if the revup was a MT and the non-revup was an auto, the non-revup still should have a higher tq. If anything, it should be similar, which isn't the case. The whp seems about right though. But either way, it really doesn't matter, as the HR is still higher than what the non-revup should've been in tq and higher than revup's whp. Good post, Hydrazine.

Is the 2005 MT revup a 35th Anniversary model?
