GT Motorsports Short/Long Blocks

Now: GT Motorsports® VQ35DE Short & Long Blocks
We offer four stages of short block upgrades. Here is what each features:
Stage 0:
Teardown inspection and cleaning of the core
Wiseco®/GTM® Extreme Duty pistons

GTM® 4340 billet crank (81.6mm[stock geometry], 87mm, or 90mm strokes)
Arias®/GTM® Extreme Duty or Wiseco®/GTM® Extreme Duty pistons
GTM® 4340 billet rods (with their alignment and resizing)
Mag and micro polishing of the crankshaft
Balancing of the rotating assembly
Rear main seal assembly
GTM® Race bearings (standard bearings available)
ARP2000™ 12mm head studs with TimeSerts® (standard)
Resurfacing (decking) of the block
Boring and honing of the block (with a torque plate)
Assembly of the short block
These are the 3.54/3.78/3.91L displacement “stroker” upgrades with a 96mm bore, 3.84/4.10/4.24L with 100mm bore for 81.6mm/87mm/90mm stroke cranks, respectively. Please refer to out prior write-up of these stroker upgrades for more information about the sleeving process and the crankshaft. 12mm head stud upgrade is standard, as noted above.
Pistons
Two piston types are available: Arias®/GTM® Extreme Duty, and the Wiseco®/GTM® Extreme Duty. Both are from zero-silicon aluminum forging, and are designed to have the highest heat and deformation resistance. They utilize buttons instead of spring locks, providing additional support. These GTM® pistons are the first to integrate a gas expansion groove between the two ring grooves, allowing additional small, yet critical, volume for gas expansion. The piston also incorporates a slightly taller than usual design, with longer skirts to minimize movement and vibration.
Rods
Designed in-house, and manufactured from 4340 billet chromoly steel. This material was chosen for this setup over titanium due to longevity, and over a regular forging due to the added strength. Each rod weights 500 grams, and is tested to withstand an equivalent of 2100ft-lb of torque on a 6cyl engine. This unique design allows for an unprecedented compression force/weight ratio, making it the most thoroughly designed and most suitable rod available for the VQ35DE.
Machining
All boring, decking, and sleeve installation is done with a Rottler® F65. The Rottler® F65 is a 4-axis, fully programmable CNC Boring Machine that yields unprecedented precision that far exceeds OEM tolerances. The honing is done with a separate Rottler® HP6A honing machine that uses special coolant as a lubricant instead of oil. The coolant is cooled as it circulates through the machine, keeping the temperatures at acceptable levels while still lubricating. This prevents overheating and warping/expansion of the honed surface/cylinder seen with oil based honing machines, yielding enhanced precision. Such precision is that much more critical when chrome rings are used, as is the case here. Chrome rings require this precision for proper break in, which helps them properly realize their superior strength and longevity relative to cast rings.
Oversize (12/14mm) head studs
This is an upgrade offered for every short block. The studs used are of the ARP2000™ material variety. The increased diameter of the 12mm studs and the appropriate ARP2000™ material make these studs the best choice in a hard-driven street car. If a full race setup is requested (not a street-driven car), we can upgrade further to a 14mm setup, which is far less forgiving and certainly not usually recommended. The less aggressive standard ARP 8740 studs are also available upon request for milder street applications, but are never recommended to our performance/track minded customers. ARP 8740/ARP2000™ oversize studs are $822 and $1269 option for 12mm and 14mm varieties, respectively, including parts and machining. Stage 3/4 short block upgrades include the ARP2000™ 12mm studs at no additional cost.
Nissan Pathfinder™ Cooling Modification
We can apply the cooling modification that utilizes upgraded cooling from the Nissan Pathfinder. The modification replaces the rear coolant return collector and adds an additional thermostat that opens at higher temperatures and raises the coolant outflow rate in demanding situation. This modification is offered for additional $200 for any of our block upgrade stages.
Long blocks
Combine any of the short block packages with the prior presented head packages for a complete long block:
GTM® Heads:
Stage 0: $1047
Stage 1: $1913
Stage 2: $3693
Stage 3: $4021
Stage 4: $5642
Full assembly (labor) of the long block, including all timing components and valve adjustments is offered for additional $700. We also offer the option (for the 03-04 model year engines) to use all new timing components, ensuring a complete renewal of the engine. Additionally, we can address the TSB issued by Nissan for noisy cam sprocket by replacing it with an updated one.

Can you post information on what boost levels those are good for? I'm interested in getting my block built and looking at your stages I can't tell what is good for me.

I just bought a motor from Todd (built z motors) and they did the machine work,sleeves, and 5 angles head job.. Beautiful work... Thanks again Todd and GTM...
