I see so many threads where people ask about the Bose speakers. I thought a thread dedicated to them would be nice and ought to pop up on searches. What are your opinions on the Bose speakers?
Here's what $1200 buys.

Yes, that's really the sub-woofer. The big steel thing sitting between the Infinity and the Bose speaker isn't the Bose's missing magnet - it's the spare core for the Infinity.

If you look really really really careful you might see the Bose speaker's crossover network. It's a single tiny cap acting as a high-pass filter. Most of the stock speaker is actually a spacer.

Another one of the front speakers.

Here's the four channel amplifier. Not too small but let's look inside.

Here's the inside. No amplifier here - no power transistors ... just some really tiny integrated circuits.

Just to wrap the display up here's the mighty Bose amplifier ... yeah, look closely and you'll see it there to the right of the Infinity amplifier. Keep looking.

Thats some pretty funny stuff. Never realized how crappy it all really is. Mine is still working pretty well though, so no complaints I guess. What are you going to use for a headunit?

Weight - about 100 pounds I would guess. Most of that with the 65 pound Zenclosure box and pair of Infinity sub-woofers. Tack on another 25 pounds worth of acoustic noise reduction matting.
I sold my entire Bose system on Ebay for about $500. You might consider that "rebate" when budgeting for your new system. Or you could play frisbee with the OEM subwoofer. Go fetch, Fido!
