Default 06 Oil Burning question?? Please Lookie all you wiz Z guys!

All right I know everyone here has either heard or read about
the oil consumption problems that the Z is having, '06 models anywho!
I have about 7400 miles on mine and has had 2 oil changes that were
done by Nissan. I don't normally check the oil since I finger its a new car I just purchased at the end of June, of course here we are talking 'bout problems haha

My question is has ANYONE here noticed there "low oil" sensor come on? or
is it just from random checking? If for some god awful reason my engine has anykind of failure due to oil problems I would assume Nissan would need to replace it as it only has 7400 miles AND all maintenance thus far has been FROM NISSAN! Any input guys/gals?????

I've had my '06 since april and I as of today I only have about 6.3k miles on it and had the oil changed once at 3700miles as it was indicated to get it changed.
I've never noticed low oil pressure and I usually check the stick every weekend and everything is fine.

Mine must not be on the "problem" list :P

If you have the maintenance warrenty, nissan dealer should fix it, but I'm not 100% sure.

Mine is consuming quite a bit of oil. I've got about 7,800 miles on it and the oil pressure light has never come on. I probably wouldn't have even noticed there was a problem if I wasn't changing my own oil.

I have a new 06 and just recently hit the 2k mile mark. I have not checked the oil which scares me… I am going to check today and will report back if I have any issues.

P.S. I purchased my Z in October with 22 miles on it. Maybe Z’s after or before a certain month are the ones having the oil issues…?

The Z does not have a "low oil" sensor.

It has an oil pressure gauge and an oil pressure warning light, but oil pressure has nothng to do with oil level.

The Owner's Manual even states:

"This gauge (oil pressure) is not designed to indicate low engine oil level. Use the dipstick to check oil level"

Honestly, I can't believe how some people don't as much as pull out the darn dipstick to look at the oil. It would've taken you less time than starting this very thread!

Here's how mine started... at 1500 miles I started to notice the oil pressure guage wasn't fluctuating that much, even when getting on it. I drove it for a few more days and when I stopped the car quickly the oil pressure light would come on. Later that day the pinging/chattering began.

That is quite interesting. I think they are idiots for not at least trying, but if they are telling the truth it just comes back to the fact that the rev-up engine is defective. I hope you have a Lemon Law that will benefit you. Sad though that it has to be done.

It may have taken less time to pull out the dipstick than create this thread, but probably would have taken the same amount of time to "properly" take out the dipstick to get a good reading.

Depends if you are talking about a warm engine or cold.
