Default 15,000 sq/ft State-of-the-art Service/Tuning Facility Coming Soon

We would like to take this opportunity to introduce our company PTUNING.COM. We've been in business in the NoVA region since 1998--mainly mail order & wholesale distribution. For the last 1 1/2 years, we've been busy working out the logistics for our new facility, which we hope will be completed by Nov of this year.

We want to make this a one-stop-shop for all your performance needs. From in stock inventory, to installation, to suspension alignment and setup, to touchless tire mounting and balancing, to ecu programming and dyno tuning, to high performance cnc engine machining and buildup, to custom fabrication and welding. If you have a lowered vehicle and you've been turned away by other alignment shops because they can't get your car on the alignment rack, don't worry, you finally have a place to take your car to for an alignment. We can even align your car with the wheels off.

Our new facility will offer the following services:

4-wheel 3D imaging alignment with inground-lift to accomodate lowered vehicles.
Corner balancing
Touchless robotic tire mounting
Tire balancing with radial runout
Dynocell-enclosed AWD dyno tuning (Dyno Dynamics AWD (2400WHP Steady State) quad-retarder loading dynanometer--one of only two in North America). We could have bought three dynojet AWD or three Mustang AWD dyno for what we paid for this dyno and dynocell enclosure.
General installation
Scheduled maintenance
Minor fabrication
Nitrous Refill
Nitrogen tire inflation
and much more...

We will eventually offer cyclinder sleeving and cnc engine machining for those looking to make crazy hp.

And, of course, we're also a fully-stocked warehouse distributor for most of the brands we carry. Our new facility will be located in the heart of Manassas, VA--a few miles from our current location. We are currently a wholesale distributors for the following forced induction kits: Greddy TT, Vortech SC. We will be adding Turbonetics SN, and APS ST & TT kits in the near future. For those looking for JDM wheels, we will be the mid-atlantic distributor for Mackin Industries (Volk, Advan, etc.) We will continue to expand our in-stock product line once we're settled into our new facility.

We look forward to serving the 350Z community and expect a huge grand opening with vendor row, models, free food and we have plenty of parking to handling any size car meet.

Below is the blue print for our Chassis Dynocell. This dynocell was custom designed to our spec inorder to be able to house our quad-retarder Dyno Dynamics dyno. There are two 48" axial fan in the exhaust tower, these fans are capable of moving 60,000-65,000 cfm of air in and out of the dynocell. Which means that the air in the dynocell are completed exchanged with fresh air at a rate of 10 times per minute, giving the dynocell's 6000 cubic feet dimension. This means no more heat-soak, and contaminated intake air from the cars exhausted gas and engine heat during a dyno session. Basically, your car will be drawing in the same air on the dyno as it does once you leave our facility. In addition we will have a 10,000+ cfm fan and a couple of 3000+ cfm blowers directing air to the radiator/intercooler during the dyno session. If you have friends with WRX/STi, we will have a suspended blower to blow air into the top intercooler openings.

Our customers will be able to watch their cars run on the dyno through the soundproof glass on one side of the dynocell. This means no more coming home from a dyno run smelling like exhaust fumes, or loosing your hearing from listening to the loud exhaust pipes.

Here's a picture of our dual 8' long exhaust silencers, it will be connected to the outlet of the customer's exhaust system to further reduce noise during a dyno session. Don't worry about exhaust flow restrictions--each of the silencers have an 8" full-flow exhaust chamber. Your car would have to flow a couple of thousand hp for these silencers to become a restriction.

Here's a photo of us breaking ground for our in-ground alignment rack. We'll be able to align pretty much any vehicle, even if it's only a an inch or two off the ground. No more damaging your front spoiler trying to drive up a steep ramp.

And here's what our Dyno Dynamics Lowboy AWD Quad-retarder dyno will look like. Except our's include the front wheel stabilizer option.

We are still on track for completion in mid Nov 2006. Here's some pics of the progress on the new PTUNING facility for the month of Sept. 2006. Here's our in-ground alignment pit being poured.

We've been waiting on the permit for this concrete slab outside, for months. It was finally approved and once it's cured, we'll be assembling the dynocell's exhaust tower on top of it.

The drywall is going up finally.

Here's the staircase to our second level.

Looks great. When will you be able to provide details regarding your engine building services? Will this be performed fully in-house, or will you outsource this?

I look forward to your grand opening.

Also, i forgot to mentioned that for customers getting their car serviced, we will provide an AC/heated waiting area in our showroom with a nice plasma tv and free beverages while you wait.

And if you're from out of the mid-atlantic region (VA, MD, DC, DE) and you're getting a SC or Turbo installed or any type of service that takes more than one full day, we will cover for one night stay at a local hotel--we are still working out the details.

We spared no expense building this one-of-kind performance facility and we'll go out of our way to provide the best possible customer service in this aftermarket performance industry.

I look forward to your grand opening.
We will be having a grand opening/bbq but i don't know if it will happen when the shop opens late fall or if we'll wait for spring to have the grand opening--our models don't like wearing bikinis in 50F weather

We will provide more details on the engine building service once we are settled in. We are currently working on engine development for the Scion TC 2.4L motor (2AZFE). The cnc machining center is not in-house. After what we've been through obtaining a special-use permit for our facility (7 months just to get the permit), i can't imagine what the city of manassas is going to pull if we tell them we wanted to run a machining center as well.

But don't worry, our machinist is a very close business associate of ours. His facility is equipped with the best CNC 4-axis maching center, honing machine, computerized balancer, and the list goes on and on. However, all engine assembly will be handled in-house.

FYI, there's a lot of initial setup cost for setting up a block for machining on a cnc machining center. A custom billet block fixture as to be made to mount the block on the machining center. All blocks will be baked in a special oven to remove all oil residue and anything else that would not normally come out by just hot-tanking. The baking process also strengthens the block--alum and iron blocks are baked at different temp for hours on end.

The blocks are then probed by the cnc machine to in order for the machine to determine the bore centerline in respect to the centerline of the mains. The top of the blocks are also probed at various points so the machine can determine the min amount of material to flycut for a perfectly flat head gasket surface. The machine will make several passes to cut the block precisely and a final slow pass will leave the surface perfectly smooth. This is especially important for MLS type gasket. We will also provide o-ringing the block for those looking to run crazy boost.

A billet honing torque plate will also have to be custom made for the VQ engine. Most machine shop don't even use torque plate or if they do, it just some univeral one. We use the torque plate specific for each block inorder to mimic the exact pressure that a tightened head bolt/stud will produce once the head is on the cylinder. This is the only way to properly hone a cylinder, since honing generates a lot of heat.

As far as rotating assembly is concerned, your cranks can be lightened if you'd like and the crank will be balanced on a computer controlled balancer. FYI, a good crank balance for a racing car is 2 grams end to end. For a street car, its 5 grams. Our machine will do it within 0.2 grams end to end.

The most difficult machining that cannot be perform by most machine shops is cyclinder sleeving, especially for these modern aluminum blocks. There is a lot of cnc programming cost to set up the machine for sleeving a cylinder properly. Once we have completed the programming and initial setup, only then will we provide the service.

I just wanted to give you an idea of what's involved in a modern day machining center. We handled all the RD cost and programming with our machinist, so we know what's going on at all times, regardless if the machining center is at our new facility or if it's off site.

I hope this answers your question. Again, we will provide more details on the cost and service for engine building services once we have all the details in place.

Thanks for the detailed answer. I look forward to meeting you and getting a chance to look at your facility.

BTW...they might not like it, but I wouldn't mind looking at your models in 50 degree temps...
