Default Turbonetics owners come in....

I need some help. Ive had the kit for about 5k, Just installed the single 3' exhaust. Anyways the car has been running fine until recently Ive came upon a small problem. I was driving in 6th at about 70-75, down shifting into 5th and punched it. At about 4-5k the car completely shut fuel. It was still running but no reponse when I pused the pedal in. When I stopped the car to a complete stop I tried to take off in 1st but the car was just kicking back and jerking. I shut it off and restarted it and the car ran fine. Again on the way home from racing it did the same thing on the highway. Downshifted into 5th, hauled *** and then boom the same problem. What you guys thing is the matter. Im still on stock reflash. All I have is the exhaust and no other mods. HELP!!!

I would say you maxed out the MAF and went in limp mode. Just a guess.

I'd say it went into limp mode from detonation which is lilely a result of the 3" exhaust. You are running AFR's in the 12's..... likely. I'd do a cmpression check, and hope you didn't blow the motor. I know you hang around here... how could you miss the TN/exhaust issues and overboosting?

The motor is fine. Runs great. Should I just drive normal until I can get the emanage ultimate?

You can do some damage and never know it. Someone on here had a SC installed, and decided to build his motor. When he opened it up he said the piston had a big chunk missing from it, and he never had any idea.

What is your boost hitting?

it sounds exactly like maxing the maf signal. had this happen to me many times at first. car still idles, but a little rough. then turn off for about 10 seconds and it starts and runs perfect again till the next time you max it out. the eu has a map to limit what the ecu sees for your maf signal. that will eliminate the prob.
now if you are blowing a little smoke, then suspect a broken ring land or something. but it sounds like the maf issue.

That is how my TB failure started. Id hit it, then it would act like a fuel cut hit and boom Id slow down. Then Id restart the car and it would be fine. EVentually it progressed to the car falling to idle while driving with VDC OFF and SLIP lights on and me having no throttle control, again restart the car its fine. Then it ended up with me turning the car on, and not even being able to rev it. Just giving you a heads up in case your problem gets worse. BTW what year is your car?

Take this from somebody who doesnt BS about anything Z related. Do the TN kit, its a great kit, BUT, and I would do this if I could do it again. Dont waste your time with the standard kit, small 380cc injectors and flash. Buy the tuner kit, injectors of choice, fuel pump, and a nice piggyback and you will be much better off....

The temp was about 55. Would it be safe to put the stock exhaust back on until I have the money for the EU and a good tune? I dont want any problems with this car. Its a 2004.

Agreed 100%...

Also to the starter of the thread, do you have gauges to monitor the goings on? Boost, A/F Wideband, EGT... Etc

what is a good exhaust to use with the T/N kit. i wanted to get the HKS Hi Power but from what i understand you can't use a true dual exhaust with it.

You can but you would have to modify it to fit the 1 downpipe with a reverse y-pipe. I personally wouldnt buy a new exhuast and hack it up though....and anything too "good" ie free flowing and you'll be on the overboost list.
