Default oil pressure really low......

i noticed my oil pressure is arould 5psi at idle and will hit a max of 30psi at wideopen throttle..... also when i drive i hear rattling coming from under the hood.. car has 30k miles it's a 03 and has a warranty til 100k miles. i do have straight pipes installed and don't want the dealer to tell me that those pipes caused any of the problems. what could be causing this low oil pressure?? and do you think the dealer will blame the test pipes on the problem? i don't see how that could be the problem though.... let me know anyone!! thanks a lot

What weight oil are you using? I guess that it is possible that a 0W synthetic may contribute to low pressure but, I doubt it. I would seriously consider getting it to the dealer. Have you checked the oil level to make certain that you are not low?

checked my oil level last night thinking i needed to add some oil..... it was at a good level and didn't need any oil added..... and i'm not using a synthetic oil.... i just take what ez lube gives me..... i'm sure it's just some standard oil that is recomended for my car with the miles on it. i feel something is majorly wrong though..... think the dealer would blame this on test pipes and no cats installed?? i highly doubt it but i do want ur opinion. Thanks guys!!!

Exhaust flow (test pipes) has nothing to do with Oil psi?

^ Aka, if they try (and they MIGHT b/c dealers are douches) to blame low Oil PSI on test pipes they are smoking some good crack.

your z may be eating oil.....adjust oil level to spec, drive for a few hundred miles recheck.... .remember a .5 qt to 1 qt is considered normal every 7500 miles

Had that problem as well; the car started running terrible and I knew somethin was wrong with it. I also had low oil level. Soon enough the CEL came on so I got oil and brought it to the dealership. They said it was something with the intake solenoids, fixed it, and that's it.
