Default Official Southeast 2006 ZDayz at Tail of the Dragon Thread

Thought the Southeast section needed its own thread about this event. Wish I could get this *stickied*

The date of this event is May 19-21 @ Fontana Village Resort in NC. Some people do try to arrive earlier to have some alone time with the Dragon.

318 curves in 11 miles! Need I say more!!!!!!

With the talk I've seen on the various forums, I thought it would be good for everyone to keep in touch as to who's going, where everyone's staying, etc...

Last years event was my first. I was told the event basically doubled from the first year. I think the official count was around 186-190 Z's of various years. I would say that it was the most fun I'd had with my Z. They have various events including a car show on Sat., detailing clinic, poker tournament, and various other activities. Drives on the Dragon aren't organized due to liability concerns.

Here are some of the links:

buzzardmountain - Azalea Cabin close to the trout pond

I may have room for someone else if someone needs a place to stay. As of right now, there are three of us in this cabin. Supposedly it has 3 Bedrooms (1 Full/2 Twins/1 Set Bunk Beds).

I love the Dragon. Didn't make it to the official ZDayZ last year, but did make it to the Fall mini-zdayz thing. I won't be missing this year though.

i hate to say it, but i'll have to miss this one. my (painful word coming up) wedding is the next weekend, so i'm sure i will be a little too busy to get out of town. the last one was better than the first and i'm sure the next one will be even better.

be sure to take lots of pictures so us less fortunate one's can live vicariously through them.

Good luck with the wedding. You could always have your bachelor party at the Dragon!

You can try Mapquest, probably around 6 1/2 - 7 hours. But that is just a guess. You could come up hwy. 74 and meet up with the group leaving from Charlotte. Trust me, riding in a caravan, will make the trip seem alot shorter. Thats one of the coolest things for me, rolling down the interstate in a long line of Z's.

Remember, gang, when the time comes to start planning caravans, try to do so over on the zdayzevents.com forums. We're encouraging everyone to organize caravans there since folks tend to visit different forums. Someone here may not see a caravan post on motoring or tech.com, and vice versa.

Stacy... we're adding a competition class award to the car show this year. It will be a ZDayZ staff selected special award, but hopefully gives some more reason for you track dedicated guys to enter.

BTW, it's a good idea to bring two-way radios to keep up with each other. Cell phones no workie.
