Default dynoed and tuned the g today... vortech people i need advice

i picked up my car from altered atmosphere today to have them dyno and tune my g35 coupe. end result was 341.1 rwhp and 298.6 tq. a/f is flat at about 11.8 after 3k rpm. boost is just above 0.6 bar. it was about 45 degrees when they dynoed and about 30 percent humidity. i do have the vortech installed and other goodies but what concerns me is that other g's and z's w/the vortech are pulling out 360-370 rwhp and 310-325 tq w/the stock pulley. i left my old ur pulleys on for the p/s and water pump but i went back to the stock crank pulley. injen exhaust, stock cats, and grounding kit are installed also. the tech was having a problem w/the belt being loose but they tightened it down a little. mike and dave were extremely helpful and curtious so they definatley have my business. anyone have ne ideas on the lack of power?

1 bar is 14.5psi of boost...

so .6 bar is 14.5 x 0.6 = 8.7psi of boost

as far as which dyno they are using im not sure, the 3.33 pulley, 1.0 bar equals about 14 lbs of boost roughly. so between 8 and 9 lbs. for the dyno chart check the link "random nissan pics" should be the last picture. thanks.

You have plenty of boost for the stock pulley . The A/F looks pretty good .Dont think you had belt slipping with 8.5 lb's of boost . Looks like they got rid of the normal dip in the power curve at around 5,000rpm with timing adjustments . You might want to think about going with the 3.12 pulley . Do you have stock exhaust ?

Your stock cats are choking off significant power...

Can we also see the dyno chart?

A'F looks pretty good. My guess is you need to open up with headers and straight pipes, and you will gain power to the 375'ish and beyond level. When you look at the guys with Vortechs making near 400whp, they all had significant additional mods that got them there.

1.0 Bar = 14.7 PSI

0.6 Bar = 8.82 PSI

I'd like to see your R4 maps, especially the timing grid. The multiple dips in the torque curve look a bit odd--but other than that I'm not sure what to say other than what others have said about "opening her up a bit" with different cats.

i wish i had the r4 maps but they didnt print them out for me. i'll ask on monday if they have them saved ne where. i didnt think ne thing of the dips in the torque curve as being odd, but than again i dont know too much about tuning. would a problem with the tuning cause the torque curve to act in such a way?

does the g normally redline at 6.76? i know some are doing the ecu reflash to raise it to 7k to produce more power from the blower.

At least your boosting...my cog pulley shredded of the other day on may way home from work. I cut the thing to pieces...having AAM get me another and strap it on next week.. Kinda inetersting though, b/c now I get to see how fast my car is with just the cams, and my other mods and the AAM reflash...def faster than what i remeber felling befor I had the supercharger slapped on...

Aaron, ya think you could shorten or tighten up your sig just a tad? It takes up more than an entire screen's worth of real estate.

huducks,

Exactly how much time did they spend tuning your car? The A/F is not smooth at all, 11.5:1 AFR at 3300 rpms is way to rich. You should not see such huge dips and valleys on your torque curve or A/F curve. Your paying them to smoothing up the torque and you should get that. I'd like to see what the first couple pulls, baselines, were without tuning. I suspect you feel some roughness with the power delivery with that state of tune.

With the R4 program you can only change the A/F every 500rpm ...or every 1/2lb of boost . Trying to change it by boost doesnt work well because you may not be at that exact rpm and boost level every time . So its tuff to get it real smooth . Say you get the A/F at 11.5 at 4,500rpm , once the rpm passes that mark , it starts to read the 5,000rpm setting . Ive called Split Second to see if they were coming out with , or could make a piggyback that would do 100rpm steps . They said NO

booger,

I've tuned with the R4 several times already on SC NSX's so I'm fairly familiar with it. I still believe he should have gotten a better tune than that.
