Default Dr Bonz Zaino Experiment II

Well, here are some pics of my Brickyard Track Z pre and post Zaino. Also, someone asked about taking pics of my Z-model with the real thing and I have included those as well.

Here's a before:

The Protocol I used this time was a little less rigorous since the car is brand new but I still did most of the steps.

1) Washed with Z7
2) Using dilute Z7 as a lubricant, I then clayed the car.
3) Rinsed and washed again with the Z7
4) Dried car
5) One coat of Z6, even Z6'ed the windows (only the outside). Worked really well.
6) One coat of Z5 with ZFX added
7) Buffed off Z5
8) Another Z6 layer
9) One coat Z2
10) Buffed off Z2
11) Another Z6 layer
12) Another coat Z2
13) Buffed off Z2
14) One last coat Z6

With every layer of each Zaino product, I also did the same with the Rays. Hopefully that'll make it easier to keep the brake dust at bay. They look great now!

I also used the Zaino tire dressing when I was all done.

For anyone who thought that claying a brand new car was overkill, take a look at this pic after I used the clay!

Geez Bonz, that car looks great! How long did you spend this time?

I'm surprised you got so much on the clay bar.

I'm putting more Zaino on tomorrow. I think the weather will be good.

Skipped the Z1 this time. I have been reading a lot of Zaino posts and a lot of people recommending what I did as the "basic" Zaino protocol. I'm sure there wouldn't be anything wrong with doing it though.

I put the Z2 on and took it off after about one hour. It came off incredibly easy. The protocol I read from an old Zaino "Guru" on another board said to take it off when it wiped off easily by rubbing your finger on it and it didn't smudge.

Total time start to finish was about 6 hours. I guess it was the learning curve last time!

that sure seems like a lot of steps to get a car clean/polished.

Has anyoone here ever used Autoglym products, they aren't very popular here in the US (although, Champion Porsche in Florida uses it). In Europe it is very popular and the ONLY product that Rolls, Bentley and Austin Martin will endorse. They also use a few steps, but I think you have less steps for a new car (wash, polish, polish sealer) I guess if you throw the clay bar in there as well as a swirl remover/polish, it ends up about the same. Btw, it is NOT a poly-sealent, so it is safe for your paint..

btw, your car looks great!!!
