Fellas,
Just a quick question, I recently saw a pic of a 350 with YES, a TARGA TOP. I know this was done aftermarket, but does anyone know who in the blue he** performs the fabrication? I've been searching the internet's internet trying to find someone on any friggin' planet that can do it. If anyone has seen this on a 350, it is SICK no doubt. Thanks alot.

wow i think the coupe looks awesome with the targa top.

any idea on how this as an aftermarket mod would effect the structural rigidity? could a roll cage counteract the effects of cutting part of the roof out?

Impressive, no question... but I don't really think I like what it does to the lines of the car, especially in the back. Just my opinion though.

When you have that much money to buy the aston martin to begin with, why not just buy a really expensive convertible, like a ferrari or something. some people...

We all know that the 350z vert is about 200lbs heavier then the coupe. The reason for this is because Nissan had to stiffen up the vert due to the loss of the top. I bet this Z handles like sh*t, unless they did some major frame work.

a Ttop would be more feasable. the problem I see is that the A pillars in the coupe Z are not designed to hold the weight of the car, and thus would crush on a roll over 100% gaurenteeing your death. also, no roll bar supports behind the seat. even with the targa top in place, it would likely buckle and just add to the pain when the roof collapses.

besides those little details, on a track youd get body roll. youd need to stengthen the frame to prevent the car from bending in the middle.

all in all, itd be general hell on safety and performance. ignoring the obvious complications that could arise when you do such a custom job. such as leaks, whistles and sticking panels.

cliff notes: good idea in theory but pipe dream, and completely not worth it.

Ares..Thanks homie you da man. Be easy. I figured that TTOP Z was too good to be true. Sort of a c**ktease of sorts. Anyway,.....anyone got any pics of rollbars INSIDE the Z.?

I have to admit I would love to have my Z turned into a Targa,

but I feel that the dynamics of the car would got to crap, not to mention the resale as someone stated earlier

I think I'll take my $7,200 and get me another MkIII SUPRA Turbo to quench my urge for open air motoring. At least the top fit in the trunk

I actually miss my 91 turbo I think I'm going to look for one again
The car definitely feels wobbly when the top is off, but when the car is clean and the sun is shinning there was nothing better than cruising with the top down

if you put a full roll cage in, and let it double as structural stability to repace the remove roof(this means including roof supports not just a roll bar) then you might manage to avoid the stiffness and safety issues. but.... remember roll cage should be accompanied by 5point seatbelts, and a helmet at all times... you dont want to get knocked around the cabin into these bars.

It's just plain stupid to do that to Aston Martin. High $ rice. It destroys the lines of the car, strength of the body, handling, and weight (I take it they inforse the bottom to compensate lost of the 3D frame). Considering it was a very light body, adding enforcments will throw off handling significantly... stupid!

If you have AM and desperadly need a convertible, just buy another car... ferrari or something
