Crawford came out against the idea originally. But think about it, what does a replacement plenum do? It increases air volume. How? By being taller, hence more space inside. Well, a plenum spacer like the 2 currently available raise the stock plenum up from 1/4" to 1/2" depending on which you buy. What is the result? Increased air volume!

Some will say air flow is also improved over stock by a full plenum replacement and a spacer can't fix that. Has anyone proven that flow is a big problem in the stock design? I don't recall reading anything about that. Maybe I'm wrong.

Hum, now why won't the spacers work just as well as a full plenum replacement????????????????????????

Volume is only one improvement. For sake of beating a dead horse I will just say use the search. This has been talked about and even illustrated many times. And, yes it has been proven that flow is a problem.

So far all incoming dyno reports are showing that the spacer provides about the same gains as the plenum replacements.

Don't forget about the other advantages the spacer has going for it:

-keep stock engine cover
-keep stock strut bar (if applicable)
-keep stock plenum
-less than half the cost

Going with a spacer was a very easy decision for me!

Where to get them: PM Hydrazine on this board, he makes them, there is no website as far as I know.

Sound: It made no difference on mine as far as sound goes, I have an injen intake, so it already had some tone.

Install instructions:
http://www.hypersprite.com/auto/tech-z-002/index.asp
and for pete sake, don't over tighten the bolts only go to 6 foot pounds (61 inch pounds).

copba1t is right on about the advantages. Mine is never coming off.

Yea, I definitely noticed a deeper more pronounced growl in the exhaust tone, as well as more sound from the intake (ztube). Myself and a few others posted some initial impressions in this thread

I believe Tony (Hydrazine) is working on getting a website up right now, I don't think he anticipated such a high interest in the spacer...something like 80+ in the first group buy

Default More Dynos - More Reviews

More dynos and reviews!

These were performed at a So Cal. G35 Dyno Day with a large group of people (witnesses) attending, scrutinizing and observing. So this is the real thing.

These are dynos performed on a Mustang dyno by "Dizz" and "Nutty Prof". As most of you already know, the Mustang dyno shows reletively low numbers, but the important thing to watch for is the change in performance pre/post plenum spacer installation.

Assuming the Mustang measures ~30% lower than a Dynapac, you could expect the gains to be ~30% greater if measured on a dynapac.

The same applies to a Dynajet at approximatly 15%-20%.

http://g35driver.com/forums/showthre...&page=12&pp=15

You will also notice on the plots that the dyno operator cut the runs at about 5900 RPM for some reason... If allowed to run to redline, the gains would have been even greater.

Surf around on the threads to see the reviews. There's plenty to read and review.

And as always, more dynos are comming!

Default HI there Hydra

how does your spacer work with the Stillen cat back?..are the gains noticeable?

I was thinking of the 1/4 inch spacer for my Z and the Stillen exhaust

does that combo make sense?

thanks in advance

Tony,

Nice products and very nice reviews.
Will the 3/8's work on the 350Z and retain the stock strut bar? Are those prices shipped?

WotNot,
It'll work great with the Stillen exhaust. I'm running both of them on my G35.

FairladyZ,
I tried the 3/8" on the Z but it didn't leave enough room for the Strut bar. 1/4" is the limit with the stock strut bar on. Beyond that the bar doesn't fit so it is best to use the 1/2" spacer for max gains.

And fortunatly, you still get to keep the engine cover on. (Uncut too)

The website is still under construction and needs major work, but at least its a start... www.MotordyneEngineering.com
