BOSE Issue
Just wanted to let everyone know that BOSE and NISSAN had settled on a fix. It should be release by the end of August, maybe mid August. No word on what the "fix" includes, but at least it is positive news. Hopefully, it will be enough to satisfy most of us. Time will tell.

Are you serious? Good News. They still send out that form letter when you mail them.
A lot of people have written saying it is the factory system and you should just live with it - even though it sounds worse than a 1994 Civic stock stereo.
But I started thinking hey this Piece of CRAP contributed around 2000$ to the price of my car (I live in Canada), if I bought a 2000$ stereo for my house and it sounded this bad I would return it in a heartbeat.
So thanks for the update, I look forward to a final fix.
I have prevented people from buying Bose stereos for their house system after giving them a real world preview in my car (since no one really believes store sound tests anymore). What else is a consumer to do?

In the home stereo market they used to be serious players. Now they mostly make "nice looking stuff that goes well with your decore but sounds like crap".
I cannot wait to resolve this problem with Bose because it is good news for a change. They haven’t responded to my last e-mail so they must be getting ready to announce something. If anyone finds out more keep us posted.
I was reading an online magazine article about the new 04 350Z and they mention Clarion instead of Bose as the sound system. Someplace before I read that Bose had sub the 350Z system out to Clarion. Has anyone else heard anything like this?

That would be cool ! No Bose for me! Woohooo! Yeeeehhaaaaw! Yes yes yes. Schweeeeeeet. Alrighty then! There is a god! Can I get an amen!
I know, we don't really know if this is true yet, but I can dream. After hearing the current Bose "premium" system I have lost any hope of Bose being able to produce a decent system. If they couldn't hear how bad this system was before releasing it then they don't have a single good ear among them.
What!?!?! It suck out loud!?!?! How did THAT happen!?!? Give me a break.

This is Nissan own site that when you click on the audio says Clarion. My concern is someone pulled the Bose head unit from his Z and what else it says Clarion? I really don't know what to think now.

The head unit is manufactured by Clarion for Bose for Nissan. The amp and speakers are supposed to be Bose. Maybe someone can confirm this. I do know the head unit is Clarion.

Don't be. As I said, the fix has not been release. We will probably know about it before any dealer. Remember, dealers/service depts. do not know about the TSB unless they specifically look for them. Same goes for the BOSE. A TSB will be release, supposedly this month.
I just received a return call from Patty at Bose. I was basically asking if she has heard anything new and if this fix announcement indeed was coming in August sometime. She said that she knew that Nissan and Bose had addressed the fixes but didn't know exactly what they consisted of. She did say however that we would probably know before she would. She said that Nissan would probably be the company contacting customers regarding our issue. But, she had no idea when it was coming or if it would be rolled out by region or not. Also there are issues as far as dates of manufacture, whose received amp replacements and who have not. These people may need something different than people who haven't had anything done. Let me reiterate we were just having a nice conversation and these were just scenarios. Bottom line is, the issue is real and Nissan & Bose has a fix or fixes coming she assured me. I am sure the details regarding Nissan setting up some kind of communication line with the dealers regarding different fixes for different dates of manufacture and VIN numbers is the hold up here. Hopefully, she said this would happen sooner than later but she cannot guarantee that it will take place in August. She told me that she has been receiving a lot of calls recently from Nissan 350Z Owners who are probably members of this board and was sorry that she could not pin down a date for us. But things are happening! And, We should hear something soon.
Good things come to those who wait, (<-----this is not an original quote from me, I heard it at sometime in my life-now let's see if it comes true)

I stopped at the local dealer and he gave me a new brochure for the 2004 Z. Here is the qoute from the brochure
“New for 2004 is a retuned, 240-watt Z-specific available Bose audio system with in-dash 6-CD changer – complete with noise-compensator technology. Making just as much impressive noise as the Z itself are seven speakers, including a 10-inch subwoofer.”
The 04 Z went into production in June so it makes you wonder if they are going to live up to their agreement? It does say retuned system in the new brochure so lets get with it Bose or is *#!&%#@yougetrippedoff.

dropped my z off for servicing today... got an Altima courtesy car... the stereo in this thing puts the bose in my z to shame. how on earth can nissan designers sleep at night knowing that they are putting better stereos is economic family cars than they are in premium priced z's??? What on earth do you NEED a good stereo in a family car for, and secondly, why couldn't they put the same one in the z? rediculous, but nothing surprises me with this stereo issue any more.

I just bought my new 350Z last weekend and have since been all over the forums reading about mods and upgrades and one thing I see all over is the talk about BOSE. My question is... what is the problem??? Maybe I am just naive to something, but I don't see any problem with my BOSE system (other than the display being hard to read during the day), but I don't think this is what has everyone ticked off. Can someone/anyone explain the problem to me? Thanks.

Welcome Chris,
In short....
Pre-orders had the AMP replaced due to the BASS messing up. Going up & down in volume on its own. The TSB fixed that.
However.....
The overall sound quality is very bad. It seems it may differ in each car. In mine, with the fader all on the rear, there is no bass. The sound equals that of a clock radio that sells for $9.95.
The system does not sound as good as other, less powerful BOSE systems inother cars. Bose has acknowledged the problem as has Nissa. We are now waiting for the "fix". I do know that Bose has tweaked the systems since, so maybe your is one of those. My wife's acura has a bose that blows mine away. Her's has 100 watts less power......
Other than that.....
