Default HKS Racing Suction Intake

I just installed the HKS intake which i bought from a member of this forum. It was a pain in the behind to install it but I think it's all worth it. The throttle response is much better than stock and i love the sound.
Once again, thanks Dakine for dropping off the intake at my work place. I also got a new filter at www.4myride.com (extremely fast shipping).
It cost me 150 bucks total. $125 for the intake plus $25 for new filter.
HKS Hi power exhaust is next.
Here's the picture guy.

Cool looking intake. But the location looks like a pain in the butt to remove and clean.

It's a pain in the **** to change the filter. But, eventually you'll be able to do it in about 20 mins. Also, that heat shield will rub against your hood; my bracing has a nice long groove in it from the heat shield sawing away at it (I dremeled it down since then). I liked its sound and look, and the fact that not many people have it. If I were to do it all over again I'd get an Apex'i Filter and a polished aluminum intake tube with Apex'i couplings.

Looks great! Are any of these intakes CARB legal yet?

I think the pop charger air filter is my choice. Seems like the stock intake tube is pretty straight already and I heard Nissan already spent alot of time getting the size and degree of the intake tube right. But never the less, looks great man.

Hi Dekine,

I was able to do it after 2 hours of struggling. Right now, I m having problem with the car shut off after rev it to 4k rpm and put gear in neutral and engine stalls when I start it w/o stepping on the gas.
I suspect it's the MAF. Brought it to dealer and they are working on it. You have any idea? LOL

I had the same problem with my HKS intake. Have the dealer do an idle air lean reset.

Did you bring the car to dealer w/ HKS intake on? Idle air lean reset, is that the same as resetting ECU?

i experienced the stalling problem twice and both times it occurred when i threw it in neutral getting off the freeway from 6th gear (at around 4k+rpm). it both happened within a few days i think, but not right after i installed it, probably like a week later.

sooooo all i did was unplug the negative terminal of the battery and replug it. after that, i never had the problem again for the several months i had it. i read somewhere here that replugging the negative terminal will adjust the ecu to minor modifications such as this one. did you try doing it?

hope that helps

Update: I got my car back today. They replace ECU and throttle body. I have no idea how the throttle body (actuator) got damaged. Any idea?
