installed Hawk HPS pads today and.........
absolutely
NO
dust
after 20 miles of bed-in driving....... (had more dust driving 1.2 miles from my house to the dealer today)...
INITIAL BITE = bests the oem brembo pads..... ALOT.....
here's my issue.... the front pads were actually 0.06 bigger than the oem pads..... they actually wouldnt fit in the calipers... without force...
so they shaved about 0.04 off of eacj side, to give a little play...
but now... they clank when i go from a reverse braking to a forward braking....
its not too bad, and the cleanliness of em is well worth it, BUT, i am wondering, if anyone else has this fitment issue....
help?!?!

post your problem in the wheels tires etc section. I read exactly what you are talking about in a thread there about 3-4 weeks ago. I am sure the same people will pop up to help. You will get a wider audience that way.

I had to shave a little off of each of the front pads (the mounting plate, not the pad material itself) to make it fit. I haven't had any squealing problems with the fronts, but the rears do get a little noisy when they get hot...only on random days though!!!
I noticed that the pads dusted almost as much as the stock pads for the first 100 or so miles, now they are pretty clean.

fixed the clanks!!
i got ANOTHER set of front pads, and this time tapped them into the calipers (they fit way better than the first set).....
also, i had the oem brembo shims applied to the pad plates, with antisqueal compound.....
silent, clean, and stops even better.......... (no shifting of the pads anymore!!)
FINAL NOTE on the HAWK HPS pads:::::
DO NOT SHAVE THE PAD PLATE/BACKINGS....... just take your time and tap them into the caliper body w/ a rubber mallet (or the like)
if you grind them, they can/will shift around a little in the caliper (enough to drive me nuts!!)
happy ending indeed

I guess I didn't shave them down that much. They were still difficult to squeeze in there after they were shaved, so I must have not taken off that much material.
I do have a problem with the rears though. They squeal like crazy when they get warm. Not HOT, just warm. I did one quick stop from 110 to 40 and then they started squealing like crazy until they cooled down.

Yeah, i used A LOT of anti squeal. The fronts are completely fine but the rears make all the noise. I think I am going ot disassemble the rears and put the anti squeal on it and let it dry a little longer to tack up better and make a better block for the noise.
I also tried bedding them a few times to no avail. Has no one else had a problem with the rears???

I actually didn't install the shims. I have never installed shims on my other cars and they seemed to work fine. Where would I get the shims? They didn't come with the Hawk pads. That might be a nice idea if that fixes it!!! Thanks for the suggestion!

this made ALL the difference for me, as mine were aweful (at first) too.........
let me know if it helps!! (also, use the anti-sq. on them to adhere)
