Actually, the thread was,and is on topic..
Randy posted results, I asked questions..Legitimate questions about the product he was running and the adaptive learning correcting the start up map and throttle response...To date, no one can provide a legitimate factual answer as to the actual capabilities of the Unit, other than go to the Pro Efi forums..I dont feel like registering for a forum, to ask a question about a product posted on this forum that I pay to sponsor..

The only 3 people that have taken it personal have all had AZ Ip addresses...

I congradulated Randy, and wish him the best..I have gone far out of my way to be of assistance to him...

Im intruged by the Pro Efi and its true capabilities in laymens terms, not a bunch of techical computer babble, and posting from a bunch of nut swingers, who make attempts to make me look bad, in the prosess of avoiding the questions I ask.

i also do not intend to debate anything related to Intense in your effort to cause drama between us..We have had a different learning curve then them, and at the point they started their builds, the technology was already advanced to the point it is now. We were around when we were still cutting teeth in the 350Z market, and have had to break a bunch of stuff, to know what works and what dont..For petes sakes, we were tuning the Z's on Emanages back 3-4 years ago, now there are several mid level and several top level engine management systems out there for them..Your forgetting the Z was a high compression Naturally Aspirated car from the start, that we all attempted to make F/I. We didnt have the luxery of turning up the boost on a stock turbo car that would handle 800whp on a stock block..

Intense learned form the past trials and errors of others, as well as their own in the supra world, and adapted and overcame..Not to take anything away from anything they have done, but they had 2 things to guide them we did not have
1) past trials and errors of others and their own
2) lots of expendable $$$$$$$

I will now negate myself from this thread, simply for the fact that simply asking a question about a Pro-Efi is construed as an assault on the product, by resident nutswingers, who muster their assault in groups..

This forum has truely stooped to pathetic levels when one can not ask questions and debate products that are still in BETA phases, without getting verbally assaulted and have their business insulted by shop supportes/junkies/swingers...

I amnot sure what you are talking about, I havent seen any of the so called nutswingers post in your threads to attacked you at all. Since you called me one(i want to assume you are joking since i though we were friends), you know i have posted in your thread totally the oposite from what you say, I have praised you work cause i truly think you put out clean builds. with excellent power. You got nothing to prove on this forum about your work with the Zs you've built. They all put really awsome power.

I think you need to understand that the product is new, not in beta, but in this case for the OP, this is the first time his tuner uses this ems. You made a few comments regarding why did the tunner jsut do this , that, and ask the same questions about adaptive learning that you already read an answer for from Larry. Randy already said he took the car to test drive it, results are still preliminary, end of it...
If you have a personal problem with Jason you should take it to PMs.

I aksed that, but Randy was posting at the same time, as you can see he answered my question and beat me to the post, therfore I edited it.

Larrys post did not clarify for me totally.

I'm not sure what all this babbling on about is...they put a set of pistons and rods in a STOCK engine, put a ProEFI on it....and in 3 passes went 11.0.... What exactly was the "learning curve", and "trial and error of others", and "lots of expendable $$$$$$" .... not following the logic here....not at all.

And just because you are saying "your not trying to start anything" doesn't mean you aren't. Your posts speak for themselves. If you were oh so concerned about asking "legitimate" questions about a product, why would you not go to the source? It's because you don't want to really know the answer, you would just rather try and put doubt in peoples minds that trust the information on this forum. MY350z is a great spot to get information about the Z, if you want information about a new product, you should go to the vendor, or an authorized dealer, no one knows the product better than them.

btw...my name is Ted...not Jason.

yeah all good bud, thanks for clarifying thins up ... hopefully larry sees this and you can ask him more specific quesions on adaptive learning etc and hopefully he can provide examples from actual experience hes had tuning the proefi so far.

lol what i mean with personal problems was that you dont really have a problem with the proefi unit, but mostly with jason. So lets just keep things separate.

Can you guys please let me finish the update on my car when I get some more info. I will be returning the car soon enough and when I can compete the tune I will let you know how it all worked out.

I am so far impressed overall with the performance of the ProEFI. This is the first time having a standalone EMS and the first time with a built engine. I am trying to enjoy this car and share my experience with all who are interested in learning more about my set-up or about a particular product that I am utilizing to achieve my success.

If there is anything that I cannot answer I can at least point you in the right direction.

Thanks for the support from all of you my350z members, mod's and sponsors who have actively helped me to achieve the success I have so far. I have been on a long road with a lot of twists and turns and I can finally see the light at the end of the tunnel.

So please keep things relatively on topic.
Thanks.

Julian,

I realize that someone brought up our name, but in no way was it requested by us. Regarding what you've posted in response to our name, your information is not completely correct.

Our 906whp stock sleeve, stock head gaskets, stock crank, stock ignition, standard ARP head studs, VQ35de was the first VQ we EVER built. We did ZERO research in what other builders were, had, or are doing. An engine is an engine. We didn't need to know what others had done because 95% of the builders still haven't achieved what we have in engineering.

(I can qualify and quantify this statement by the fact that we've had our hands in Adam Saruwatari's low 7-second 3.2L V6 NSX motor for over 6 years now)

http://www.carandmodel.com/featuredcar/4.php

If we had, wouldn't you agree that we would have upgraded the head studs to L19 or better?
Wouldn't you agree that we would have upgraded the head gaskets to HKS, or an alternative?
Wouldn't you agree that we would have upgraded the ignition to HKS, or an alternative?

ProEFI, PowerLab, and Intense teamed together to find the limitations of the stock block. Instead of reading up on what everyone else had done, and what was considered "true", we wanted to find out ourselves. On a completely bone stock motor, we bent every single rod at 540ft/tq and 600whp (perfect tune!). At that time the motor was pulled and stock bore pistons and after market rods were put in -- no machining to the block was done whatsoever.

At this time the testing of the stock sleeves was in order. The first test was with the PowerLab GT35R. We maxed the turbo out at 650whp. The next test was with the GT37R. We maxed that turbo out at just over 700whp. The final test was the 76S, which maxed out our clutch at 906whp -- sleeves still perfect! Again, all of these TESTS were with the stock block, no machine work, stock sleeves, stock head gaskets, stock ignition, stock crank. As you can see, we wanted to not only keep everything as stock as possible to be as true of a test as possible, but also to keep it cheap -- as to show everyone that with off the shelf parts, efficient off the shelf turbo system (PowerLab GT35R), and off the shelf engine management (ProEFI 48), reliable, high horsepower can be obtained by anyone!

You are correct that we learned the majority of our engineering from building 2zj-gte motors over the years -- and that's where the majority of our "expendable $$$" ended. We've also built 1400whp Viper motors, 1000whp 20b motors, and many many others. The common threads that links all of these successful motor builds are 2 things:

1. Efficient turbo systems
2. Efficient engine management (AEM at that time -- the designer of which, Jason Siebels, who quit AEM to start his own company.. ProEFI)

We took this philosophy and applied it to our first VQ build -- which still holds the world record for stock sleeve, stock crank VQ at 906whp. The SAME motor is in the world's quickest/fastest G35 coupe (11.00 @ 128mph) at only 600whp!

All of this boils down to 1 thing:

These companies want to advance the knowledge and engineering of VQ's -- they want people to spend their hard earned money wisely -- not on unnecessary parts.

Yes, Intense has been in this game for a decade now. Yes, that means we have a running start at engineering. The VQ community should be ecstatic to have companies like Intense, SP, Injected, etc who have been engineering and racing for cumulative 30+ years right? It speaks volumes of the dedication to excellence and perceverence and the ethos of "never quit"!

Last, ProEFI, for the most part is tested right here at Intense, so is PowerLab. You're a PowerLab dealer. Why would Intense be involved in a questionable product, given how hard we've worked in this game?

Darren

Don't know u in AZ or how u think you could possibly know something in NY, but I am having my cams upgraded to GTM 272's since the BC stage 3's aren't going to be available for another few months. My last set of JWT cams were a bit chewed up so before they got any worse and broke down I brought it back to my tuner to resolve before any catastrophic failure occurred.
Yes, I've had my share of bad luck, but it was all part of the learning process.
