Default Hydrolock what are the sympthoms...(WORRIED)..Help!

Tonight I was driving thru South Jersey and it was was FREAKIN POURING!!! I was a bit worried about the rain and my Gruppe M Cold air intake...Anyway as I was driving along I hear this real heavy muffled sound coming from my Stillen exhaust kinda like as if the the thing was drowning in water, power was still there though..I pull over to have a look I check the exhaust everything seems fine.. As I drive off everything is still cool after about 10 mins of driving I hear the sound again...So I get home park it in my garage rev the engine I can't recreate the sound I was getting..

So im thinking what the hell is wrong???? Did I get water into my intake system and the exhaust is trying to spit it out?? I have no idea...Can someone PLEASE HELP!!!Please!

Well its not hydrolock. The car would have stalled and would not start back up if it was hydrolock. Maybe some water got in the muffler or something.

The one car I had personal hydrolock experience with was a Maxima with a VQ30DE.

My buddy ran through about 4" of water in a low point in the road and his engine stalled. He restarted it and noticed it had a knocking noise. He drove it home and to the dealer the next morning.

The diagnosis... two bent connecting rods. One was slight, the other about 60 degrees.

yeah hydrolock means you fill the cylinders with water and then all the momentum of the car comes down on the cylinder, and its gotta go somwhere cause water wont compress like oxegen fuel mixture, easiest way out is to bend the piston rod or the like, this means the engine stalls first of all, till the water gets out of that cylinder. and somethings broken.

its not a symptomless problem, it will make itself well known. your fine.

I've heard similar sounds, not in my Z though, when driving through puddles. Maybe just drove through a puddle and that was the sound of water splashing on the under side of your car?

I agree with above. This is the first car i have owned that has the bottom of the engine sealed. Prolly water hit off the plastic.

My Civ took in water before also with a CAI. Hydrolock. Couldn't start it until the next day and after cranking forever with a jump. Shouldn't have done that. Severely bent a rod and then some. No more CAI for me.

CAI and HYDROLOCK, The only way you can get water though your CAI in you Z, is if you fully semerge the filter in water!!!

I do tons of driving in bad weather puddles, rain, snow, no problems here, but if you see a big puddle and you dont know how deep it is i dont suggest finding out!!!
