350Z factory muffler MOD
Hey guys, thought I'd share
Well i decided to take off my stock muffler and see how it sounded without it..
drove around for a few days loving the sound, vroom as u go thru the rpms!
well I hated the look and didnt want to do what guys are doing and making a "muffler delete" with piping, looks cheese.
SO.. I took my muffler off and an idea came to me. I started to draw a square around the baffles inside the muffler.. and CUT IT!
I gutted my factory muffler and welded her back up., looks stock and has alot more flow.
for sound its good, not as loud as running with no muffler, but louder than factory. Im happy with the work I did and it definately does not look hacked and nobody will ever know! (until now)

i hope my cell phone can get a sound clip, i think i can get the photos uploaded but the clip might sound like crap. I experienced a very throaty sound from when I had just taken off the muffler, quiet on idle but once i went into the rpms it sounded mint, totally tuned, not loud like a honda, not cheesy, a nice throat rip.
Now as it sits, the sound is louder than factory, you can definately feel more flow through the tips, still maintained perfect flow in each tip (its cold here and u can see the exhaust)

Oook... So this may just be me, but when I was in the middle of installing my exhaust I paused and turned on the ignition on just to quench my curiosity. Yes it sounded loud and throaty... but the rasp was off the meter and I immediately knew it was not going to be pleasant whats so ever for more than just that moment... I'm thinking this mod is going to be something close to what I'm talking about. A$$.

After hearing clips of no exhaust on this site, i thought it sounded wicked, but didnt like the look of the missing muffler. Was thinking of doing the same thing of gutting the muffler, wont cost nothing much, people on this site are selling stock muffler for 10 bucks....but would really like a sound clip of what u have done and waht other mods u have too .... Thanks

ok, for those asking for pics. why? i suggest you reread the original post. he said it is a OEM muffler that is gutted inside and welded back up so all you are going to see is a pic of a OEM muffler anyway. and i am sure everyone knows what those look like
