DIY Parking Brake Handle replacement

I basically exacto knifed the e-brake in two spots all the way around; about an inch from the top and about 5 inches from the top.
I twisted off the top and then picked one seam to cut down to the lower cut. The lowest piece (you actually can't see most of it since it's in the dash) I just pulled off.
The only way you can get the hollow metallic cylinder, surrounding the e-brake button, is pulling the button off. Don't worry it pops right back on.

Now I have to do this!
Hey Dutchboy,
You didnt have to cut into the pit lane version, is it only the pit stop series handles that require cutting?
Thanks,
R

MOMO E-Brake Handle - Pit Stop Adaptor BMW MM-PSADPA2
Thank you anyone2u for a great write up. I just installed the CF pit stop e brake.
Yes, it is possible to simply slide off your stock e brake by starting from the bottom of it, grabbing the ends and tugging forward (toward the dash).
If I could do it all over again, I would have ordered the e brake boot and asked Redline to make the hole for the boot about an inch wider or so. I wasted 4 hours blowdrying and trying to stretch the crap out of it and then gave up and cut it. Pics to come sometime soon.

i did the same thing with my momo e-brake. i was really upset when i had to cut that square to fit it over and through the metal e-brake handle. but it fits and looks great. SO does yours great job, good DIY instructions.
Installed mine a couple weeks ago and looks awesome. Will post pics hopefully in a couple hours. Only PITA was notching out the Momo handle. Used a bench top grinder with a 3/4" wide grinding wheel and still almost too 15 minutes but the rest was cake.
