Default One more stealth Z install comin up :) pics...

first install after returning from china...man i got used to not breathing in sawdust
car is white 06 350z...the goals are:

1. good sound quality
2. complete use of trunk space (stealth)
3. clean but with a little flare

lets get started:

headunit: Pioneer 7800MP installed using the metra 06 Z kit:

the front stage uses a pair of Polk Audio Signature Reference 6.5" comp set (mounted coaxially) in a set of Wicked CAS door pods. THANKS NAZAR!! The inside of the door pod is compeltely dampened with Edead, as is the inside of hte plastic door panel. while it was a huge pain to pull suede across the curvy shape, i managed to do it with lots of tugging and swearing

the trunk is obviously hte main attraction, here is what it looks like all covered, up, as you can see the floor hasnt been raised at all

take out the two layers of carpet and you are greated with this:

covers protect and hide all the components, and a combination vinyl/sude makes up the floor theme. the center is a mesh grill covered in grile cloth to protect the subs

and with all the covers off, its all revealed Two Elemental Designs nine2x flank a pair of Ed 11kv black cones, infront of the amps are the two monstrous crossover modules from the Polk SR set. two tone black vinyl with white suede flows across the entire floor...

sounds pretty decent as well, the two 11kvs provide more than enough bass in the little Z to shake hairs and rattle mirrors, and they even provide clean bass with the carpet on

and here are a few behind the scenes shots to show some of the attention to detail:

first you can see the pods thare dampened as well as the doors, semi-permiable carpet and a piece of foam dampening gives the pod a semi-sealed enclosure. note TWO pairs of new speaker wires are run into the door via the factory molex plug

and here is the trunk with all the floor off, showing that there arent flying wires every where

maybe sean can put up a review after he sees it in person tommorow, hope he doesnt log on tonite

MDF only, 3/4" for box, rest is 1/2" there isnt much point to do a fiberglass box in the floor of a Z IMO, there isnt a well,, and just to replace the bottom of the box with fiberglass wouldnt really save much weight at all..maybe...1-2 lbs?

this really isnt that heavy of an install, iw oudl guestimate a net change of about 20-30 lbs? due to the removale of the spare tire, the two foam pieces, and the tools

just got a chance to listen to the system a bit(1/2 hr or so)

so a few quick comments

pods= look sick, sound good (bing's kicks have better imaging and midbass though, still the pods are 1000 times better than stock in door set up)

bass=freaking nuts, extends way low. more bass than i can handle when it is turned up

trunk set up= wow factor to the max. the tone tone looks crazy nice in person

the install exceeded my expectations(which are usually unreasonably high)

i can't thank bing enough for going above and beyond what i was expecting in this install

just comparing the drop on the rear visually to my previous set up.
it is exactly the same
with the spare and tools gone i don't feel a huge weight gain

Other people, please don't quote such a list of pictures! We all saw them the first time...
